Computers and Hippies
I recently read the latest issue of Takagi-san's Spectator and it was quite interesting. The special feature of this issue was "Computers and Hippies." I was completely engrossed in it from beginning to end. It provided a comprehensive overview of the lineage of "Zip," which aimed to expand Human Existence rather than embracing Natural Regression, from Stewart Brand to the IT culture of the West Coast. After reading it, I realized that... According to o_hiraku's tweet on June 6, 2021, I am clearly a descendant of "Zip." While being aware of Ecology issues, I am not simply returning to Self-sufficiency, but rather inheriting the tradition of exploring a stimulating and wise world through DIY using new technology and design methodologies. This book helped me understand my own roots. In addition, I came across an interesting article titled "The Meaning of Life Doesn't Need to Be Thought About" in NEUT Magazine. It features a conversation between Kimura and Hiraku Ogura, where Hiraku shares his perspective on unplanned living and the bias of seeking meaning in life. He believes that even the work he is currently doing depends on how well he can remove biases, and that seeking meaning in life is unnecessary.
